Balkan & Black Sea Shipping Company Limited (BBSS) provides shipbroking, ship chartering, logistics solutions and services worldwide.The Company was incorporated in London (England), under the Companies Act 1948, as a Private Limited Company, on the 17th of February 1966 (Company Registered No. 871726), with Business and Registered office address at Black Sea House, 72 Wilson Street, London, EC2A 2DH. Since 1972, BBSS owns the office building it operates from. Black Sea House is a grade two listed building, located in the prestigious Shoreditch area, on the City of London outskirts, 5 minutes’ walk from the Liverpool street and Moorgate underground stations.Since its incorporation in 1966, till the fall of the iron curtain between the Eastern bloc and the West in the late 1980’s / early 1990’s, the Company represented the trading interests of various State-owned Bulgarian Companies in West Europe, Americas, and the rest of the world. Balkan & Black Sea Shipping Co. Ltd, through its network of offices - BBSS London, BBSS Hamburg (now known as Navigation Maritime Bulgare – Deutschland), BBSS Barcelona, BBSS Genoa, BBSS Antwerp, BBSS Istanbul, BBSS Hellas/Piraeus and BBSS Singapore, provided shipbroking, ship insurance, ship chartering, port agency, and cargo booking agency services for the Dry Bulk Trump Division, the Tanker, the Container and the Multi-purpose ships departments of its majority Shareholders, Messrs NAVIBULGAR, serving in excess of 100 ships at the time.The privatisation of Navibulgar in 2008 and the following closure of the Navibulgar Container, Tanker and MPP vessel departments reduced the number of their ships. It necessitated the restructuring of BBSS and closure of the overseas offices that were previously handling the container services. Currently, Balkan and Black Sea Shipping Co. Ltd operates in the Dry bulk and project cargoes segment of the shipping freight market.
